Behemoth Dragon Model (BOF 3)

So here is another entry I did today. Not to shabby for 2 hours work, and literally my second day on the program. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to add detail. I'm doing all of this on a 13 in. macbook (my baby) with 2GB of RAM. So the more detail I add, the slower it becomes. This program is so awesome I may have to see what money I can scrounge to get a new computer that may be able to handle it better.

The model is far from perfect, and lacks detail but I'm sure that will only come with more time and experience. The creature you see in the pictures is called the Behemoth Dragon from the game Breath of Fire 3. It's one of my favorites of Ryu's (shape-shifting main character) Dragon forms because he looks cuddly. Doesn't he??!! Awww come here dragon..... come here! *snuggles* Hope you guys like!

3D Breath of Fire 3 Gonghead Model

So Here is my first post for artwork. Lately, I've been trying to get back into drawing and creating geeky things. Most of my time had been taken up by school and what not, but I've had the itch to create stuff and I think it's about time I get back to it. I'm trying to learn a new 3D program called "Sculptis". It is a program made by the same company that makes ZBrush, and it's basically a toned down version of Zbrush. It's a tiny program, but don't let that fool you! It's powerful! Originally I had wanted to do 3D but I got discouraged because most 3D programs are full of confusing menus and any artist can tell that they were definitely designed by eggheads because they aren't very intuitive. The learning curve is high and eventually I lost interest.

UNTIL SCULPTIS.

This program was obviously designed for artists, but mainly sculpters. I have almost zero 3D experience (except for google sketchup) and within about 1 hour I had modeled what you see below. Granted, it's not the best but it shows how easy this program is to learn. If any of you were discouraged with 3D like I was, try it. You'll love it! With that said, some information about the image.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a huge Breath of Fire 3 fan. It is an RPG that was created on PS1 by Capcom. Something about the game and the designs just "gets me" and I've always wanted to model some of the monsters and characters in 3D. Here is my first submission. It is an enemy named Gonghead. It's not perfect but for my first 3D model, I'm kinda proud of it. There will be more to come as my skills progress!
